In order to overcome panic attacks, it is important to first understand what a panic attack really is. Panic attacks occur as a heightened feeling or emotion causing the heart to beat at a fast rate terrifying any individual experiencing it.

Symptoms of a Panic Attack

Panic attacks just happen for no reason at times, without any warning before it starts to show the symptoms. There are several symptoms when you are actually having a panic attack. Dizziness and feeling light headed, breathing difficulty and tightness of the chest area, sweating, perspiration and feeling nervous, chills, shaking, trembling or seizures, swallowing difficulties and worst – you may actually feel as if you will die any moment while having all these signs. The fear of dying triggers intense feeling of fighting for life which in turn makes you feel even worst and go berserk.

In general, your lifestyle affects everything – including your health. A healthy lifestyle means a sound body and mind, a stable mental condition, less stress and worries.

Do not Fear Panic Attacks

In order to overcome panic attacks, it is important first of all not to fear it. Terrifying and scary as it may seem, but a panic attack needs to be regarded as harmless and as soon as you do this, it can be much more easily coped with.
Having the attack does not mean losing control over the situation. You know when you’re having it and you know exactly what you fear at the moment, which means you are aware of what you’re going through and in turn, you can always choose to do the necessary measures to counter the attack. Regain consciousness and you know that it will just pass.

Do an Analysis and Assessment

Another way to overcome panic attacks is doing an assessment of the overall experience. Think of positive thoughts and thinking rationally. Always remind yourself that a panic attack is just a momentary feeling. Understand that the emotions you feel at the moment of having the attack is normal in order for you not to fear it and eventually, calm yourself down.
Illogical thoughts triggers fear and it’s important not to deny yourself of fear – instead, it’s best to entertain and accommodate these fears so it doesn’t bother you anymore. The more you try to repress fear, the more you get a negative feeling about it and the more tendency for you to blow things out of proportion.


Keep Your Mind Still

Know that panic attacks have triggers and another way to overcome panic attacks is to keep your mind still in order for you to point out what sensations and thoughts are making you feel worst. Now that you know the different symptoms of a panic attack, it will be easier for you to pay attention to your thought processes.
